Has anyone purchased wedding flowers from Albertsons? They had some brochures and it looks good and looks like a good deal..
What do you think? I know the quality may not be 5 star quality but I am on a budget and the most important to me is reliability - will they be there when they say they will - with what they say they will bring?

I suggest visiting weddinglenox.com and post your request. Their matching system http://www.weddinglenox.com/membersignup... will match you up with local vendors with pricing you specified. I tried it and have good result as I only recieved response from vendors according to my request.
One problem I had with my wedding is that it is hard to locate vendors in most website as most likely they group by states and there are too many of them that's too far from me and I have to look at each site to figure out.
The sites I provide above have a easy to use layout to show you pictures, pricing and location in one page plus, you can send out your inquiry for matching vendor to contact you. That save me lots of time to locate the best vendors with the right price.
Reply:I haven't but I would be really concerned. It's not what they do best neither do they get paid more. I couldn't put my trust in them unless I built a firm relationship with the person that was doing it. But maybe you should ask for 3 references. Otherwise I'd get the main stuff from a local florist and ask them for just the corsages and petals.

How do you deal with flowers for a Destination Wedding?
Hello. I am getting married in Florida in January ( I live in MN) and I am wondering how one deals with flowers for a destination wedding. I'm certainly not going to buy my bouquet here and pack it in my suitcase and bring it with!! Are there ways of ordering them over the phone or something and picking them up at your destination?
Also, what other flowers do you need besides the one that the bride holds? I am so clueless when it comes to weddings!!!
I dont really care about decorations around the church, its going to be a short ceremony with about 8 ppl present so I dont need lavish decorations to impress anyone. Im just wondering what other flowers I will need for ppl to wear/carry?

I had a wore a white sundress and my husband wore khakis and a nice white button shirt. The flowers were mostly pink and white and were beautiful - they were the only flowers that I had except for a small bouquet for my maid of honor - we had only 9 people there - I wouldn't have changed a thing! I bought a few different rose arrangements very inexpensively and brought ribbon from home. I cut the stems of the roses to an appropriate bouquet length and wrapped/tied the stems with the ribbon. I had a beautiful rose bouquet for myself and my female witness for a very reasonable price. Just pick them up the day of the ceremony and stop stressing! Like you said, the day isn't about impressing anyone - it is about getting to marry the man of your dreams! Congratuations!

I'm getting married May 12th which is mothers day. I just realized flowers are going to cost about twice as much as normal because of the weekend, I was estimated about 1-thousand dollars for 7 bouquets.
I worked in a florist shop for a few years so I know a bit about bouqueting, and it seems to me it would be way cheaper to just buy a bunch of flowers and do it myself (with the help of my bm's). I would still pay someone to do the boutineers. Just wondering if you think it's plausible or if I'm out of my mind!

I absolutely think you can do it yourself and save yourself alot of money. You can go with silk or real flowerrs. If you go with real, I would suggest going through a wholesaler like Costco or Sam's Club. I bought my flowers through them and paid $12.99 per 2 dozen roses. The service was great and the flowers were gorgeous. I picked them up 3 days before the wedding and ordered them medium tight. I had plenty of time to arrange all the centerpieces and bought vases at Michaels for $3 each. For the church, I used pew cones from www.pewcones.com and filled them with the flowers. If you worked at a florist, you will have no trouble at all arranging the flowers. When I asked a florist how much she would charged for a similar centerpiece, she said $75 each and I spent under $20 each. The knot.com also has some great pictures and ideas. Hope this helps!

On growersbox.com you can get 6 1-dozen rose bouquets for $108. and they are fresh and beautiful. Don't do the silk flowers when you can get fresh ones at a much better price!

I honestly think if its something you know you can pull off to look both beautifully and professionaly done, then go for it. It saves quite a bit of money in the long run. if you know everything you need great if not i could fire up my memory and let you know what you need, i used to make wedding bouquets.
For my aunts wedding which was put together in i think it was 4 months, i did the flowers ( 3 boutineers, and 7 bouquets, all table centerpieces {which were bouquets} all the flowers on the main table and the background of the main table) it took me 3 days non stop (by myself too) and costed in total, roughly 200.00 (because we used alot of roses). plus i cant remember the little extras. I also made the cake which was a hassel in itself lol. But everthing turned out amazing. Basically have fun with it and its your decision but i dont think its tacky at all.

For the bouquet to be tossed, I found one already made up and then took off the plastic rings that held all the flowers together and added my own touch to it and wrapped it in ribbon. It all actually turned out really nice. It's a great budget saver.

Reply:yea..go for it..use artificial flowers and get those little handle things that go underneath the flowers..they look like a handle and then it's circular at the top of it and is kind of slanted...then buy aqua foam to put in the circular part...then cut the flowers and make a nice little arangement..its easy...

However, if you go with real flowers, especially with your background, I would check out some local shops to see if they have any "second quality" flowers you can buy in bulk. They're MUCH cheaper, and the only thing wrong with them is a couple of discolored petals or bent leaves (which are, of course, easily removed).
I'm sure whatever you choose, they will be great - but I always think that everyone is so busy looking at how beautful the bride is, they won't notice if the flowers don't look "Martha Stewart" perfect! Enjoy your day!

I think with your experience it is plausible, just make sure you have a plan B if it doesn't turn out as you hope.

They both used the pins that have the fake pearls on the end to hold in place,and OH!!! I just remembered, the rose bouquets were held together by clear hair rubber bands that you can get at the drugstore, with ribbon wrapped around the band so you couldn't see.
Both bouquets were really nice.

What do you think about a black and white wedding with bright colored flowers???
Im not going for the goth look, i just loved the contrast of the two colors and i personally feel that baby blue and light greens are a little too eastery for a wedding and since my wedding is in April these are the more popular colors. Im not too crazy about pastel bridemaid dresses. I will have an all white wedding dress and my bridesmaids will have black dresses with a white sash. Any Opinions??? Thanks!

To be honest....any color goes at anytime as far as I'm concerned! Black dresses will look very pretty against some bright colored flowers. You can do all one color....say PINK roses....PINK tulips....PINK gerbera daisies.....or a mixture of any of these flowers with other colors! I happen to think pink and black look very stunning together.
It would also look very nice with the small sunflowers -- bright yellow!!

Reply:What about black, white and pale blue? Maybe your bridesmaids could wear a light blue sash with their dress. You can also vary the color combinations to not make it look like an Easter basket. Champagne and light blue would be a nice color combination.

Reply:I think that sounds like a nice idea. I think it would look good, and it wouldn't look gothic as long as everyone was holding bright flowers. I especially like the white sash idea. Maybe you could also make sure the bridesmaids will have some other splash of color, like earrings or shoes or jewelery. And your fiance should wear a brightly colored tie that matches the flowers.
Reply:I did this same thing (minus the white sash) for our recent October wedding. The wedding was outdoors and it was in the afternoon. Everyone looked great! Not gothic or funeral-like at all. We had wildflower bouquets that were all sorts of colors and they just looked wonderful with the black dresses--really vibrant. I think your plan sounds great! I'm not crazy about pastels either. The BM's wore black dresses, all different styles to fit each individual body shape, and they carried hot pink, orange and yellow flowers. The colors really looked good together. And I liked that idea. It saved money for each BM too because they could find a simple elegant black dress that fit then and there (no alterations needed) at their favorite store in the mall for $50 rather than spending a fortune on a BM dress that costs $300 with alterations and everything.
Reply:I think it'd be beautiful. You can do whatever color combination you want! You dont even have to stick to two colors... you can just have BURSTS of colorful bunches scattered about. (I'm thinkin about the floral arrangements that they have in the lobbys of large hotels... with the funky Paradise flower thing) Thats lovely!!
Reply:Keep the bright flowers the same type and it will look great. Majority roses, sunflowers, etc in a rainbow of colors will look smashing.

If your wanting a bright color to throw in the mix, I would definately go with pink-light or dark. This could work with all of your smaller details. Reply:Your wedding colors do sound very formal and would be wonderful for an evening wedding. I've seen a wedding like this with red roses as the flowers. They made the whole event seem very gothic. I've also seen this done with bright pink lillies. This looked really beautiful. I think that orange would also be lovely. I had an April wedding with pastel colors, but I do understand that this isn't to everyone's taste.

I get what your saying about the pastels and such. However, I think bouquets w/ pink, peach, champagne and ivory colored flowers would look Fab w/ your black dresses.

To be honest....any color goes at anytime as far as I'm concerned! Black dresses will look very pretty against some bright colored flowers. You can do all one color....say PINK roses....PINK tulips....PINK gerbera daisies.....or a mixture of any of these flowers with other colors! I happen to think pink and black look very stunning together.
It would also look very nice with the small sunflowers -- bright yellow!!

Reply:What about black, white and pale blue? Maybe your bridesmaids could wear a light blue sash with their dress. You can also vary the color combinations to not make it look like an Easter basket. Champagne and light blue would be a nice color combination.

Reply:I think that sounds like a nice idea. I think it would look good, and it wouldn't look gothic as long as everyone was holding bright flowers. I especially like the white sash idea. Maybe you could also make sure the bridesmaids will have some other splash of color, like earrings or shoes or jewelery. And your fiance should wear a brightly colored tie that matches the flowers.
Reply:I did this same thing (minus the white sash) for our recent October wedding. The wedding was outdoors and it was in the afternoon. Everyone looked great! Not gothic or funeral-like at all. We had wildflower bouquets that were all sorts of colors and they just looked wonderful with the black dresses--really vibrant. I think your plan sounds great! I'm not crazy about pastels either. Reply:I went to a wedding very similar to what you want last year.
The BM's wore black dresses, all different styles to fit each individual body shape, and they carried hot pink, orange and yellow flowers. The colors really looked good together. And I liked that idea. It saved money for each BM too because they could find a simple elegant black dress that fit then and there (no alterations needed) at their favorite store in the mall for $50 rather than spending a fortune on a BM dress that costs $300 with alterations and everything.
Reply:I think it'd be beautiful. You can do whatever color combination you want! You dont even have to stick to two colors... you can just have BURSTS of colorful bunches scattered about. (I'm thinkin about the floral arrangements that they have in the lobbys of large hotels... with the funky Paradise flower thing) Thats lovely!!
Reply:Keep the bright flowers the same type and it will look great. Majority roses, sunflowers, etc in a rainbow of colors will look smashing.

If your wanting a bright color to throw in the mix, I would definately go with pink-light or dark. This could work with all of your smaller details. Reply:Your wedding colors do sound very formal and would be wonderful for an evening wedding. I've seen a wedding like this with red roses as the flowers. They made the whole event seem very gothic. I've also seen this done with bright pink lillies. This looked really beautiful. I think that orange would also be lovely. I had an April wedding with pastel colors, but I do understand that this isn't to everyone's taste.

I get what your saying about the pastels and such. However, I think bouquets w/ pink, peach, champagne and ivory colored flowers would look Fab w/ your black dresses.
The flowers will definitely POP against the black. Also, your dress will appear more crisp white, next to the black contrast.

You have endless possibilities with those colors. A lot of it will depend on your budget and the style that you are going for. Do you want dramatic? Subtle? Do you want to carry all white? Do you want your bridesmaids to have different bouquets? There are lots of options...
If you are on a budget you can go with gerbera daisies. They are a beautiful and affordable flower. You can basically use any color that you wish. You could go with a nice red color, like this...
