Ordering flowers in bulk for a wedding?

I am trying to think of ways to cut down the cost of my wedding. I have some very talented people in my family who could put together some wonderful arrangements- so I'm thinking of ordering flowers in bulk and doing it ourselves. Has anyone ever done this? How did it turn out and where did you order from? About how much did it cost? I don't want crappy looking flowers! THANKS!

Ordering flowers in bulk for a wedding?
That is exactly what I did. I ordered from The Flower Exchange. I got 200 tulips and five bunches of pittsporum for around $220. My only problem was that my red tulips opened up too quickly but they were still amazing. I got all the materials to make bouttonnieres and corsages at Hobby Lobby and a friend of mine put them all together. It was far less expensive to do it that way. Of course, she was busy busy the day before the wedding but she wanted to do it for us. It is very time consuming but a LOT less expensive.

Good luck and congratulations!

If you haven't ordered invitations yet, look into www.lcipaper.com. We ordered ours there and just printed them ourselves. They looked great and were cheap.

Good luck and congratulations!
Reply:I know places like cost-co and sam's club sell flowers in bulk. We're looking to get a bunch of hydrangias from them and just aranging them in vases ourselves and then going to a florist for the actual hand-held arangments (except for my throwing bouqet, that will be wholesale flowers as well. No use play $30 for a small arrangment your throwing and will probably be shredded to piece by bachlorettes anyways).
Reply:Our florist did that for one of my daughters weddings. We wanted calla lillies and it was much cheaper to order in bulk. The other flowers were used elsewhere and it was great. Saved tons of money.
Reply:I am ordering mine from growersbox.com. I am getting about 250 roses for $200. This site was recommended by my photographer.

Congrats and Good luck to you!
Reply:Any decent nursery will be able to take and process your request.

Look at the quality of fresh cut flowers they sell, this is the same quality you'll get, because most of the time they'll order their flowers from the same location.
Reply:WE ORDERED BULK FROM WALMART AND DID THEM OUR SELFS WE SAVED ABOUT 70%DOING THIS
Reply:Try one of these two sites.
Reply:We ordered our flowers from Sam's and had a friend of the family do the arrangements. We had 22 table arrangements,8 bouquets, 17 boutonnieres, and 2 huge altar arrangements. The total was around $700...that included paying our friend to make all the arrangements! It turned out beautiful and what would have costs several thousand to do!
Reply:I am doing the same thing so I will be ordering mine from http://www.growersbox.com/. The have "wedding in-a-box options and if any of those work for you you would save even more money. They are straight from the flower farms so they are super fresh so they will last all day!! Plus free shipping!! Well good luck to you, and if you end up using this site please let me know it worked for you! Have a great day!!
Reply:Unless the talented people in your family are up for a lot of work and willing to be totally busy the day of the wedding, then I would not attempt this.

I understand wanting to save money, but if you want things to be fairly elaborate and/or are fairly picky, then I would just go with a professional and realize that part of the extra expense is the value of knowing it is being handled by someone who does this every weekend and it will look the way you want it to.
Reply:I am doing the same thing. I have not chosen which company I'm going through yet (I'm still in the early planning stages) but I did order a sample from rosesource.com. You get to pick up to 8 varieties of roses you want in the pack to make up 24. (Some companies will only send out a variety sample pack so you don't know which kinds will be in there) These are all the sites that I've looked at. If you have any questions about them just email me. I know A LOT about bulk flowers.
