What flowers are in season in august? this is for a wedding so flowers for bouquets and vases are best.?

Sunflowers, gardenias, wild flowers, daises, zinnias, and all kinds of others. Glads is the flower for the month of August.

What flowers are in season in august? this is for a wedding so flowers for bouquets and vases are best.?
Most flowers are in full bloom in august, so you have many seasonal flowers to choose from. A few spring flowers such as lilly of the valley, lilac and freesias would not be available (or would be imported from another hemishere and cost a fortune).

There are also many hothouse blooms to choose from...

You should be able to get most varieties of roses, lillies, etc.

Calla Lillies (Zantesdechia) have new varieties with smaller flowers and different colours. Very stylish..

Chrisanthemums (there are tiny varieties (such as "funshine") that look great in bridal bouquets and floral arrangements.

Alstroemerias have many colour combinations, are very lovely and last well.

Stephanotis are also a beautiful creamy white star shaped flower with a lovely perfume...

Carnations are a flower available all year, as are roses...

The tiny filler flowers are usually varieties of limonium or gypsophilla (the millionstar variety is the prettiest).

Orchids are also winderful, usually hothouse flowers, there are several small varieties that make great bridal bouquets... The dendrobium, mini-cimbidium and phalenopsis are my favourites. I once made a bridal bouquet with simply 3 cattleya orchids (these are the large ones) surrounded with gypsophilla and leather fern for the backing.

Very simple, and magnificent...

If you want a special colour scheme, choose your flowers at least a month beforehand, so your florist will be able to order them for you and have them on time.
Reply:Blooming time of most flowers are August. That is Rose, Dahlia, Gladiolus, Chrysanthemum, Allamanda, Bougainvillea, Aster,Marigold , salvia etc.

rose flowers and gladiolus are used for bouquest.

rose, aster, gladiolus, chrysanthemum, salvia are best for vase flower arrengment.
Reply:Hi There are lots of flowers in season during August which one's you choose depends on the style and theme of your wedding. If you have a colour scheme in mind that can help you narrow down the choice.

Imagine masses of old-fashioned pink and white garden roses, combined with peonies - pretty feminine and romantic, or peonies which come in a range of strong or soft colours, are wonderfully fragrant and typically Country garden in style.

Try tone on tone - use different shades from the same colour range to add extra depth and interest to your arrangements try Hydrangeas, Delphinium and Lavender together -

Hydrangeas can be bought as pot plants or as cut flowers; they come in blues, whites, pinks and pale green and their huge flower heads have real impact.

Or if you would like more of a contemporary feel how about gerbera or orchids.

Have fun looking for ideas.

How do I transport fresh flowers and the wedding cake?

We are driving approx 450 miles in the desert, staying in a hotel, and then another 250 miles to location. So the flowers will be sitting for about 36 hours. We are driving out of the US and it is hard to find a florist in that area so that is out of the question.

How do I transport fresh flowers and the wedding cake?
I did this. I went 7 hours. I put them all in styrofoam coolers. The hard ones. It was fine, just don't over pack them and put the ice in the bottom not on top. Check the ice every few hours. Good Luck. NO silk flowers, yuck!
Reply:it might be a little late, but I think you should have got flowers and the cake the last spot you could get from. Just an idea. I'm sure they will be okay if you keep them cold. But 36 hours is a while. I hope the flowers don't mess up. Good luck!
Reply:Fresh flower arrangements will not fare well in a 36 hour ordeal like this and have a high probability of being severely damaged. Wasted money, wasted flowers. It would be wise to have them shipped under refridgeration to either your hotel, wedding site, or post office. This situation would definitely warrant silk flowers in lieu of fresh if you were to drive them that far.

As for the wedding cake, don't even attempt to transport it. Find a local bakery or private cake decorator in the area of the wedding site to make it for you. I do not see it arriving in one piece, nor holding together if you drive it there.

Flowers with blue bridesmaid dresses at an outdoor summer country (but not too country) wedding?

We are having an outdoor ceremony at a little country Bed and Breakfast this summer, and I want to find some flowers that are not too formal, but not too country (a.k.a. wildflowers). I love wildflowers, but I want this to be just a notch above being that country and simple. It is my wedding, after all! :)

I love daisies, roses, sweet pea (that's what my mom has always called me), sunflowers, ranunculus, gerbera daisies, and mini calla lilies. I was just going to go with white flowers because the contrast with the blue dresses would be pretty. The color also has to look okay with the red roof on the B%26amp;B (but no red flowers please, just colors that would look okay and not clash with the red roof since we are thinking about having the ceremony leading up the steps of the house.)

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Pictures EVEN BETTER!!! :)

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!

Flowers with blue bridesmaid dresses at an outdoor summer country (but not too country) wedding?
callalillies are amazing...

they have a darkpink center, and really catch the eye, they are not to formal for country, but not too country either.
Reply:Hi

Here are some tips on country styling that might help. There are also wedding flowers galleries for bouquet and decoration ideas on the site.

Country styling can be casual, think of flowers just picked from the garden - beautifully soft subtle colours and fragrance. Imagine masses of old-fashioned pink and white garden roses, combined with peonies - pretty feminine and romantic.

Don’t forget foliage too - the reason cottage gardens look so right is that they have plenty of green between the flowers. Variegated ivy trails and umbrella fern would be delicate enough to suit the theme and add a welcome relaxing note of green. The elegantly weeping tails of green hanging amaranthus, or love lies bleeding, looks remarkably right when used in relaxed arrangements. Molucella (bells of Ireland) with a faint lovely rice-pudding scent also adds a cool touch of green". Adding herbs to your wedding flowers also add interesting texture as well as fragrance and a country garden appeal. Tuck a rosemary or lavender sprig into your napkins as well as including in the wedding flowers to carry the theme through.

Try tone on tone - use different shades from the same colour range to add extra depth and interest to your arrangements try Hydrangeas, Delphinium and Lavender together Hydrangeas look lovely and you can get these as pot plants or as cut flowers; they come in blues, whites, pinks and pale green and their huge flower heads have real impact."
Reply:Swan River Daisies. Light blue, 5 inch stems. But a florist might have a hard time finding enough.

What are the pros and cons of using real flowers and silk flowers for a wedding?

The big advantage to silk flowers is the money you would save by using them. You can do the arrangements yourself ahead of time and you can choose whatever flowers you like, not just what you can afford. If you like the idea of real flowers, you could use real flowers for the bridal bouquet and use silk flowers for the other arrangements.

Another con to real flowers is they may not last through the wedding. My daughter was married on a rather warm summer day and even though we kept the flowers refrigerated up to the last minute and in water, they went downhill very rapidly. Real flowers are nice; the beauty and the smell, but there are disadvantages to using them.

What are the pros and cons of using real flowers and silk flowers for a wedding?
Silk flowers will look cheap and cheesy....... Real ones are much more beautiful!
Reply:There's nothing wrong with using silk flowers at all.

However, I chose to use fresh, because we had four wedding colours, so used mixed bouquets with those colours, and they were just so happy and beautiful. Nothing compares to the beauty of fresh flowers.

And, frankly, the wedding was going to be the only occasion EVER in which I'd have a bouquet - so I wanted to do the flowers fresh and beautiful!
Reply:real flowers-look real, smell great, can be preserved-INSANELY expensive, especially exotic flowers

fake-sometimes look fake, dont have the scent but can be found dirt cheap on sale, never fade or wilt, sometimes you can find really nice, realistic flowers. You can buy months ahead of time!
Reply:i think its really your prefrence and all on how you arange them.. my friend had silk flowers for her bridesmaid bouquetts and they came out really pretty.... her flowers were real of course..
Reply:The pros to real is that they give you that look and smell of the season, they look just beautiful and they show class, the cons of the real is that they dont last long and are not cheap, im thinking thats why some people go to silk flowers and some silk flowers look real but in the end there fake, but the pro is that you get to keep them as they are forever.

Can't decide on wedding flowers.?

I want to keep it simple, but do not like calla lilies. I do like wildflowers, but no sunflowers. My colors are dark blue (midnight/sapphire) and white. I'm thinking about adding a little accent of yellow, but can't decide. My wedding is in May and because of that, I am feeling very overwhelmed on all the available flowers. I was maybe thinking of white carnations, daises, babies breath and blue roses, but don't know if that is too fancy for what I want. Any suggestions would greately be appriciated.

Can't decide on wedding flowers.?
Wow. Sometimes I feel like the only person on earth who doesn't like cala lillies. It's nice to know there's someone else!

You've got some lovely ideas there for flowers. Other flowers you might consider are: bachelor's buttons (ironic name, I know, but they're a lovely deep blue and closer to wildflowers than your blue roses), heather (which comes in purple or white), snapdragons (they come in a lucious soft yellow as well as a positive rainbow of pastel shades), forget me nots (pretty, soft blue with yellow centers), or larkspur (comes in blue, purple, pink, white).

I love the idea of sticking mostly with wildflowers rather than the same sorts of flower everyone else carries.

Most of all, have fun putting your flowers together. Choose flowers you like and don't let anyone talk you into those cala lillies if you don't want them.
Reply:A friend of my did hydrangeas as a pretty blue flower: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/phot...

you could put yellow statice as your flower:

http://www.lazyway.com/floral/other-bloo... (bottom left)
Reply:White carnations, daises, babies breath and blue roses are the cheapest and cheapest-looking flowers you could get! No, no, no. These are florist filler-flowers. The blue roses are not natural...they're made by soaking the stems in blue dye - which causes the roses to expire early (do you want a dead bouquet?).

Check out the bridal bouquets on the martha stewart website for inspiration. Do all white with little blue flowers in between.
Reply:Simple and elegant would be white roses, I love daisies too.

How about white amarylis or white stargazer lilies, they are so beautiful and elegant. Definitely white with blue ribbon!

Good luck!
Reply:i LOVE daisies...they remind me of "fun" where as something like a calla lily seems more "formal"...

what if you did a mixed boquet of all white flowers? some daisies, some carnations, some lillies, some orchards---with blue satin ribbon going half way down the stems to hold the boquet together?
Reply:I had an April wedding that was really simple. I used orchids. You get many on one stalk and they go a long way. Plus they come in a variety of colors. If you search orchid bouquets you can see a variety of styles in the picture areas. You can have it as simple or as fancy as you would like.
Reply:Did you see a florist yet? I brought in swatches and she laid out several selection for me- depending where you want to fall in price. And they order flowers from all over the world- she had a book of 100 and 100 of flowers. I must have saw 100 in just pink and they had a whole yellow section.
Reply:I think it would be lovely to do a simple bouquet of white roses and babies breath, tied together with a blue ribbon. Very elegant. But do not mix roses with daisies.
Reply:i think hydrangeas are nice. they are blue and don't have to be dyed blue. they have the same effect as carnations, but are a little better looking in my opinion. stick with the daises too...then you'll have blue and white flowers with yellow accents!!! and they won't be too fancy.
Reply:some blue bells or maybe some blue flax mixed with daisys and babies breath maybe some cone flowers mixed in
Reply:catcus.
Reply:Calla lilies and red roses (colors=apple and gold) are what Im going with. Dont be so overwhelmed. Mine is in June and if you're already thinking detail you'll get things done.

Best wished.
Reply:My colors are blue and white too, but regular blue. I haven't decided on my flowers either, but here are some I really like: white roses (dipped in blue, perhaps), blue iris, white asiatic lilies (I don't like calla lilies either), belladonna, chatham island forget-me-nots, morning glory (these have yellow in the middle, so that would be good if you decide to import yellow). Most likely I will go with a simple bouquet of white roses dipped in blue, maybe with jewels, or blue irises with white asiatic lilies. I hope this helps and congratulations!
Reply:The selection you have choses sounds lovely.

I love fresh crisp carnations. and I would definitely add in the yellow accent.

Go with your first instinct, that is what usually works.

What flowers (or colors of flowers) would look nice at a wedding with these colors schemes?

Options for Possible Wedding Colors:

1. Lots of different shades of Blue, White?

2. Turquoise, Aqua, Coral, White, Tan (Beach)?

3. Blue, Pink, Orange, Yellow, White (Sunset)?

Thanks for the help!

What flowers (or colors of flowers) would look nice at a wedding with these colors schemes?
1) Choose several of the following: blue delphinium, white larkspur, white lilies, white daisies, white asters, blue iris, white alstromeria, blue Belladonna, white statice

2) Choose several of the following: Peach gerberas, pastel snapdragons, blue carnations, pastel alstromeria, and some of the white flowers mentioned above

3) Choose several of the following: Pink, orange and yellow alstromeria, orange and yellow lilies, orange gladioli, orange and pink gerberas, yellow larkspur. (I would leave the blue out of the sunset colors.)

To see what these flowers look like you can go to: http://www.virtualflorist.com and type in the name of the flower to see it in a bouquet with other flowers. I had blue delphinium, pink alstromeria and a white star shaped flower that I can't remember the name of in my bouquet. I love alstromeria (alternate spelling alstroemeria). It comes in many different colors, is not very expensive and the blooms last a long time.

Good luck!
Reply:In my opinion i like #2.
Reply:1)Blue violets and baby's breath

2) Use lilies! These flowers are usually a blend of vibrant yet soft colors....like soft lavendar flowing into hot pink. You can find them in a variety of exotic colors, and the flowers just have a 'beach' look that'd go well.

3) Go with tulips!! You can get them in all of these colors listed....they are beautiful flowers, and with this bright arrangement...it'd be gorgeous.
Reply:It's all relative to the season you would be getting married during.

1. I think the prettiest flowers here would be white roses with yellow accent flowers or if getting married during the summer, even decorating with sunflowers (they come in a "baby" size too that would be cute for butonniers).

2. It sounds a little too busy, you should just get married at the beach and use the natural splendor there . . .

3. Would be cute, because you could have each bridesmaid where a different color in the same dress which could be really fun and different. As far as flowers go, maybe orchids or something tropical?

I personally think the first one would be the easiest because you could make it a provencial (think France) theme and have sunflowers and lavender (which smell divine) and big beautiful white roses or hydrangeas in the pale bluish-purple and cream . . . it would leave you with more options all together.

Help! I already paid for my wedding flowers and I'm having MAJOR 2nd thoughts about them!?

I went to a florist and made a hasty decision about my wedding flowers (bouquets, etc.) and now I totally regret it and want to change it or get my $$ back. How do I go about this politely?

Help! I already paid for my wedding flowers and I'm having MAJOR 2nd thoughts about them!?
you can change your order. after I met with my florist, I decided I wasn't crazy about what we picked out. so I looked at theknot.com and went through tons of bridal magazines and gathered pics of bouquets I did like and took them back to my florist and she changed my order. my flowers ended up beautiful.
Reply:Just because you paid for them, doesn't mean you can't change your mind. Go back to her and discuss with her what some other options for flowers could be for you. Its her job to make your flowers the way you want them, and you can change your mind if you want to, as long as it isn't too close to the time that she's ordering them.
Reply:Simply just call the florist before they waste their time on them and just explain like you did on here and tell them what you really do want.
Reply:Talk to your florist- I'm sure you can change your bouqets/ flowers as many times as you want untill your happy with them- trust me florists are used to it. =)
Reply:If you speak to your florist far enough ahead of time, he/she should be more than willing to change your order. You need to consult your contract, though, for the cancellation policy.
Reply:Call them and tell them about your second thoughts. Maybe they could just do something different instead of just refunding your money?

Have you completely paid for them already? I don't see why you wouldn't have just put a down payment on them?
Reply:If there is plenty of time left before the wedding- at least a couple weeks, the florist shouldn't have ordered your flowers yet and it should be easy to change. Just contact them and ask what options you have. If it is shorter notice the florist might be able to use some of the flowers for other orders, so you shouldn't be stuck with the whole cost.
Reply:Unless your wedding is tomorrow you can totaly change your mind about what type of flowers you want. do you know how many times I changed my mind. you might just have to pay a little more depending on what you change you mind to or maybe you will get a refund if the new flowers you pick is cheaper.
Reply:Chances are slim to none that they are going to give you a full refund after you've signed a contract. Read it, there is probably a deposit portion of your payment that is "Nonrefundable". So then you decide if you hate the flowers enough to eat the deposit.....

That being said, many florists aren't going to be completely unreasonable. If you speak with them about your concerns they should be happy to switch up your order from roses to calla lillies (or whatever you choose) as long as your wedding isn't tomorrow and the flowers are already in the shop. Depending on what KIND of changes you make you may need to pay a little bit more but at least you won't be having second thoughts.

Call the shop and ask to speak with the Manager or the Owner....NOT A SALESPERSON. Then explain the problem and remember to stroke their egos.

"Hi Judy, it's Kim from the Jones wedding? I've been thinking and that red rose arrangement you showed me was abosolutely breathtaking but I think I might want to switch it up and go with orange calla lillies for my boquet. Can we do that? Sorry if it puts you in a bind but I've really been having second thoughts about my choices. You do such great work i would hate to lose you as my vendor."

Pause nicely and usually they will say something like "Oh sure. I'll alter the order now" or throw on an extra sentance "Well the callas are going to be an extra $2 a stem. We can definately do it but you're going to need to bring the difference in by Friday"

Then make absolutely sure that the contract is changed to reflect your new choices.
Reply:Is it just the flower choices tha tyou are having second thoguht on or the florist in general?

If its just the flowers talk to the florist nd let them know you changed you mind on what you want.

If its the florist in general that you no longer want to work with. Tactfully let them know that you changed your mind on using their services and ask for a refund of your money. If you have done this far in advance they should be able to rebook with out a problem. Most likely they have yet to use your deposit towards supplies and should be able to refund regardless.
Reply:If you entered into a contract with the florist, you may not be able to get your money back. If its under contract, see if the florist will work with you to try and change the arrangements (type of flowers, styles) to something you like better.

Site for wedding flowers (bouquets, etc)???

I am getting married and I would like to have some ideas to take with me when I go to the florist. I was wondering if any of you know of any great websites that have ideas for bouquets and wedding flowers. My colors are purple and lilac and silver. Any ideas will help.

Site for wedding flowers (bouquets, etc)???
look through bridal magazines, find one that you like and take the picture to Michael's the person in the floral department can help you get everything you need, and you can make your own bouquet. it will be much cheaper, and you will have the satisfaction of doing something so important for your day. Remember to make a second one to toss (it should be smaller and more simple)
Reply:I suggest visiting weddinglenox.com and post your request. Their matching system http://www.weddinglenox.com/membersignup... will match you up with local vendors with pricing you specified. I tried it and have good result as I only recieved response from vendors according to my request.

One problem I had with my wedding is that it is hard to locate vendors in most website as most likely they group by states and there are too many of them that's too far from me and I have to look at each site to figure out.

The sites I provide above have a easy to use layout to show you pictures, pricing and location in one page plus, you can send out your inquiry for matching vendor to contact you. That save me lots of time to locate the best vendors with the right price.
Reply:try nationwideflorist.com or FTD.com onlinewholesaleflowers.com sells them for cheap.

or proflowers.com/wedding or growersbox.com..

just google flowers for wedding or something.

i would also go to neighborhood flower shops and

ask them to show you a combination of purple and

some kind of silver decorations.
Reply:For church decor or ceremony decor, love this site www.pewcones.com. I got so many compliments and on the cones and flowers. I used them at the church and them brought them to the reception and at the end of the night - let the guests take them home. I bought our flowers wholesale at Costco- $13.99 for 2 dozen. But silk will work too and I think Joann's or Michael's has a good selection. Hope this helps! Happy planning!
Reply:This site made talking to my florist so much easier!

http://www.yourweddingcompany.com/index....

its an index of sites that have bouquets and other decorating ideas for wedding, very helpful!

Also, I DON'T reccomend ordering fresh flowers online for your wedding, you have no way to insure good quality and if it come out bad you won't have time to get it fixed. Also, silk is not really that much easier to work with, and to get good quality stuff (not the stuff people take to the cemetery) you may end up paying just as much if not more, and I doubt higly you are looking for something that looks like you would leave it on the grave....the perk is you can keep it forever if thats what you wanna do! I had great luck with this site

www.save-on-crafts.com

lots of great quality silk flowers at a much better price than I have seen, I ordered 400 silk pink gerbera daisies to make my topiary ball centerpieces, and they look great and were only 50 cents each after shipping!
Reply:There are two websites that I ordered silk flowers from for my January 2007 wedding:

the brides bouquet-i used toss bouquets for the bridesmaids (white roses)

budget minded brides-I used this site for my bridal bouquet which i personalized to suit me

The flowers came out beautiful and I was fully satisfied with both companys.

Affordable wedding flowers in Australia?

I'm having difficulty deciding what flowers to have at my wedding.. i've been eyeing tulips or orchids, but know they can be pretty pricey..i'd love to have as many flowers as possible, but don't want to spend a fortune.

also, has anyone tried the sydney flower markets? are they any good?

my bridesmaids will be in yellow (i think at this stage).

any suggestions?

Affordable wedding flowers in Australia?
I had roses for my wedding - white with blue crystals with them

I think pinkish roses would look good with yellow dresses

Prices vary between each person - make sure you do your homework

Email me and I can give you more info
Reply:Yes, trying the markets is a good idea. You can also ask the vendors about which flowers look great, are easy to maintain and are inexpensive. When doing your own flowers a lot of people recommend roses because they are hardy and easy to maintain.

It depends a lot on the time of year you're having your wedding as well- if you're not having your wedding in late autumn, winter or early spring then tulips will be very expensive (and sometimes not available at all in summer).

As for what goes with yellow- white, cream, blue, green, purple and certain pinks can look good with yellow.
Reply:If you want lots of flowers for you money, try gerbera daisy's. They are colourful and bright , plus they arnt that expensive.

How do I make my wedding flowers last longer?

Top tips to keep your cut flowers fresh

Florists realize the advantages of cutting flowers and foliage at an angle and approximately one inch up from the bottom of the main stem. Cutting a 45 degree angle near the bottom of the stem provides a larger, more exposed area for the uptake of the water. In addition, the angle also enables the stem to stand on a point, allowing the water to be in contact with more of the cut surface.

Florists are aware that re-cutting limp flowers enables the stem to readily absorb more water. A fresh cut will open the veins up allowing the flower stem to absorb necessary nutrients.

well if u ask your florist what temperature is the best then LOL, u put them in a controlled temperature fridge.

I know it sounds funny but it works. it preserves the color too.

it must be cool in such a way that its dewy not moist(more water), the petals mustn't get too much moisture.
Reply:I had mine freeze dried and framed.
Reply:I have dried wedding boquets in SILICA GEL. It is a sand-like product that gets poured over the flowers in an airtight container. In a week or so,,it will be dried and look GREAT.
Reply:Get silk flowers. I loved them and they are still in an arrangement in my living room.

Does anyone know where I can get fake flowers for my wedding for a cheap price?

I am looking for fake or silk flowers for my wedding in June, I want yellow and white daisies, but I want to be able to get them at a decent price.

Does anyone know where I can get fake flowers for my wedding for a cheap price?
There are some great stores you can get fake flowers.

At Michaels craft store, you can get a wide variety. But to get them at a cheaper price, look in the Sunday paper because there are often 40% off coupons. I suggest buying a few papers and using the coupons to get all you need at a discounted price.

Hobby Lobby has a wonderful selection also. If you go online (www.hobbylobbly.com) and sign up for the email ads, you get a coupon every week. Every other week, it is a 40% off a regular item. Print as many coupons as you want and buy all you need.

Keep in mind that both of these stores also run great sales.

I know you want fake flowers, but typically, most areas have a fresh food market that sells bulk flowers. Daisies are such a common flower that you might be able to get more this way for a cheaper price and organize your own bouquets.

Anywho...CONGRATS!
Reply:the dollar store
Reply:Any craft store such as Hobby Lobby, Micheal's or Joanns. Wal-Mart and Dollar stores offer a variety of silk flowers. You may also want to talk to your local florist. They should have great quality floral and sometimes will have them at a reasonable price. You should also consider who will be putting them together for you. If you will be designing them, that is great. Most craft stores have designers that can put them together for you however you may not like the price they charge. You can contact me for designing (I'm a florist!)
Reply:Dollar store?
Reply:Ebay.com. No, I'm serious. I got my flowers for my Sept 2003 wedding from an Ebay store. Very reasonable and very easy to work with. She emailed me pics of the flowers each step of the way.
Reply:DUH!!! YOUR NEIGHBORS GARDEN. LOL
Reply:Try Wal-Mart, Dollar Tree and craft stores, craft stores should have those type of flowers on a deep discount since they are not the flowers of the season, Wal-Mart and Dollar Tree have nice flowers at good prices. Congratulations and good luck!
Reply:Most dollar stores do carry a selection of artificial flowers. But you get what you pay for. Check with your local craft store. If you need a larger quantity they may be able to offer you a discount. Or at least their sale price (generally 20-30% off)

Good Luck and congratulations!

Also check ebay, sometimes you can get gently used wedding florals.
Reply:i hit up Hobby lobby, michaels, fads and frames, flea markets and other craft stores. they have lots of options that are pretty cheap... hobby lobby was actually having a good sale when i got mine!
Reply:flower factory
Reply:If there is a Micheal's craft store near you check there they clear out their silk flowers every season usually at 50% off. I got almost all mine there the final bill was $60.00 for 3 bridesmaid 1 Jr bridesmaid and a flower girl. I also got my flowers ( two bouquets a much lighter one to throw my bouquet is way too heavy to throw) there and the centerpieces and corsages for 3 moms and a grandma (fiance didn't want any on the men so I have a bit extra)

Also check eBay as I found my bouquet on their after I made it and it was being cleared out of an eBay store.

Take pics when you go to give you an idea of how many you will need otherwise you will be going back for more to fill in spots because once you wrap it it won't sit the same as it did when you were holding them to get an idea of size.
Reply:Go to a dollar store. I used to work at one. We used to sell beautiful, decent quality flowers for 1-3 dollars. And they came in bouqets of like 10 flowers.
Reply:like any craft store they even but it together if you ask them to
Reply:Try a dollar store
Reply:go to a local hobby store, like hobby lobby or micheal's. they are always having sales on fake flowers. that is where i got mine and i would say for everything i had to make and supplies and such it was under a hundred bucks for flowers. now, real ones would probably be more in the upper hundreds. you could also look online
Reply:Michale's or Garden Ridge. Garden Ridge is pretty good. In Sunday newspaper go through the ad sections and find a shop that is having a sale on silk flowers.
Reply:Any large discount craft store.
Reply:Any local craft store, like Micheals or Joann's will have what your looking for.
Reply:You can check the brides bouquet and see if they have the ones that you want. They sell silk flowers.I got mine from there and they came out really well.
Reply:Michaels is a good place to buy them. I don't know where you live but my try a Hobby Lobby (they are common in my area). Any local arts %26amp; crafts store is a good place. Walmart also has some. Try a sewing shop also! i think Michael's is the best though.
Reply:You might try Hobby Lobby--they have a nice selection there.

best wishes
Reply:u can go to the dollar store and get flowers.. Thats where i have gotten flowers for decoration.. its cheap...
Reply:Walmart? :D
Reply:Try a craft type store such as Michaels or Hobby Lobby.
Reply:flowerwholesale.com but you have to set up an account.
Reply:Micheals or walmart try those.
Reply:big box stores:

michael's crafts

joann's fabrics

start watching now for sales and you should be able to get your flowers for a very good price. also some stores will store flowers that didn't sell in season, and if you ask nicely they quite often will not only get them out for you to look at but sell them to you at a good discount in order to free up space for new stock!

daisies sound so nice!

good luck with your wedding plans and congratulations on the upcoming marriage.

Please help with my wedding flowers!?

I went to the Bridal shop and found my dream dress...the dress is Champagne. I loved it and had to get it! We're getting married in the snow and our color is a sapphire blue. I have no idea on flowers for the wedding, I don't want to make my dress look dingy with white flowers and the wedding is only 5 months away! What colors, what type...HELP Please!

Please help with my wedding flowers!?
I would use a champagne color with the blue. Or if you didn't want to use blue at all you could use a ornage rust color: Below is a website of some orange flowers:

http://wedding.weddingchannel.com/conten...

And actually you could use white it would really stand out against a champagne dress.

Take a look:

Reply:I got married in January and My flowers were white Fuji mums and white roses.they had some fill in there too greens and other creamy colored flowers. the girls carried white Fuji mums and red roses. their dresses were sapphire blue velvet. My dress was white but the Fuji mums are not pure white they almost look a little champagne or creamy. It was beautiful. You could always use just the Cream colored flowers if you don't want other colors. Go to the florist and ask to see them . Take a sample of the fabric with to show them. they know what flowers look good with what. That's part of their business.

and no with all that red white and blue it did not look patriotic. It was beautiful

Best wishes to you
Reply:Champagane and red
Reply:I would do cream flowers with a sapphire blue ribbon.
Reply:I had a champagne wedding dress too! I actually showed my florist the picture of it so he could recommend flowers to match my color (purple). A good florist can match and order flowers for anything! So I had ivory and purple flowers with a lot of ivy.

(Don't ask me what the flowers were, that was 12 years ago!)
Reply:get red and yellow roses
Reply:Many "white" flowers are actually a creamy white. I'd suggest booking an appointment with 2 or 3 different florists to see what will be in season and what their advice is. I loved the suggestion of the hydrangeas, but make sure they are in season. Picking flowers that are in season will not only be cost effective but will also help convey the season in your photographs. Don't fret over the champagne dress. You love it, run with it! It will look just fabulous with the sapphire blue! Good luck, sweetie %26amp; congratulations!!!!
Reply:yellow roses
Reply:yellow
Reply:Off cream (off white) roses they are beautiful and pick up the colors they are around, for a different look in the bouquets dainty twigs sprayed the Sapphire blue and coated in diamond dust ( at craft stores). The crystals are white in color will pick up the Sapphire blue. Good Luck
Reply:all red flowers, bright red
Reply:champagne with hints of the sapphire blue and 1 other accent color.
Reply:creamy hydrangeas and slate blue hydrangeas

plenty of flowers will compliment a champagne dress. and white won't make your dress look dingy. get some white flowers and hold it up to the material to help you decide.

white peonies are gorgeouse although I doubt you can get them in the winter.

I would use the blue hydrangeas as a base and add some other creamy toned flower in for contrast. Roses can be a creamy white rather than paper white. Start looking at flowers now to get inspiration. Go to your florist and ask to see photos from previous winter weddings they have done.

Hope this helps!
Reply:That's good you are getting married you should go with champagne and sapphire blue flowers.
Reply:you can get very colorful flowers, like pinks, reds, yellows, and whites. that way, your dress will stand out.
Reply:You can use cream colored flowers, or red, or a deep burgandy color.
Reply:I know what you are going through. It was very hard and fun planning my wedding last year. I had some great sites to help me out in my planning. When I found them I was thankful.

Has anyone ever bought wedding flowers from rosesource.com?

I am looking into buying my wedding flowers from rosesource.com

I'm scared to buy on -line for the first time from a company I have never worked with, for such a special occasion. It would be a disaster if it didn't work. I would love to know ANY information about this company!!

Thank You!

Has anyone ever bought wedding flowers from rosesource.com?
Hi and congratulations!

You are in luck! YES, I ordered from them for my son's wedding! You can check under "comments" and my testamonial is still on their site: Gail B.

Anyway, like you, I was a nervous wreck...but they were so easy to work with and they gave me a time that they would arrive....say Thursday at 9:30 a.m., and, sure enough at 9:30 a.m. the Fed Ex truck pulled up! You are also able to track your shipment via Fed Ex tracking.

Are you buying flowers simply for the centerpieces or are you buying them to make up your bouquets?

The only thing.......it is SOOOOOO much work! I bought flowers strictly for the rehearsal dinner, church ceremony, and for centerpieces at the reception. I purchased 250 roses!! That's a lot of flowers! Anyway, it took me 2 1/2 hours to unpack them...cut the ends....put them in buckets of water with floral food.

Also....you CAN'T put them in a regular refrigerator. They tell you that in the instructions. Mine worked out perfectly because it was summer and we have an air-conditioned house. I kept them in my basement, which gets really cool with the AC on.

It's it scary....because, of course, when they are packed so tight they don't look the best when they arrive. Our shipment arrived on Thursday, my sister and I worked on them on Friday, and by Saturday (the day of the wedding), they looked great! We had lots of comments on them and we let people take them home after the reception!

So...if you have someone to help you, and you have a cool (or cold) area to keep them....it will work out great!!!

Good luck!
Reply:I haven't had experience with them but I did order my flowers online from www.theflowerexchange.com and they were amazing. They were in perfect condition when they arrived, they opened beautifully for the wedding and they lasted for over two weeks. I would recommend them to anyone wanting to order flowers online. In fact, I've ordered flowers for Thanksgiving from them.

I thought the link below might be helpful to you if you're doing your own flowers. It helped me a lot with tips.

What did you do with your wedding reception flowers when it was over? Could I take them to an old peoples home

I work in an old people's home and I can assure u that this would be a fab idea as all the old ladies love weddings and flowers. It would make their day! Go for it!

What did you do with your wedding reception flowers when it was over? Could I take them to an old peoples home
im getting married in may so not done anything yet BUT as im providing the vases for the flowers im going to be giving the vases away to the guests with the flowers in!!!

you could take them to a home, that would be a nice gesture to try and put a smile on their faces!!
Reply:sent them to our local hospital,
Reply:I think that would be an excellent idea,. The nursing homes would love to have them sitting in some of the patients rooms and they would even put the bigger ones in their foyer...That would be so nice of you...and that way, they will be used again, kinda like getting a real bargain, when you can use them twice...
Reply:Your idea is a lovely one!

For our wedding, we had two large centerpieces of fresh flowers we used at the church, then at the head table for the reception. After, they just went to my mom's home.

Table centerpieces were silk, so various people just took those home.
Reply:You could also consider the local hospice they have less restrictions than hospitals as a rule.

Or how about placing them in the cemetery? I'm sure you or someone in your partners family have loved ones there.
Reply:Most people give the centerpieces away; one each for the mothers, one each for the grandmothers and then out to aunts or other female guests.
Reply:People just swiped them from my sister's reception. They probably won't make it to another venue.
Reply:of course u can and what a lovely idea
Reply:thats a wonderful idea, i'm sure they would be much appreciated, much better than leaving them where nobody can enjoy them after the day, this way people can enjoy them after the day!!
Reply:u save it and put pieces of it in ur wedding album
Reply:That would be a lovely thought but check first with the home if they will let you give them the flowers for the old people. If you have any left over, a little bit of wedding cake would also make them feel happy that someone thought of them. enjoy your day, you deserve it.
Reply:do what you want with them, i went to a wedding last year and people wanted to take them with them, spose it's a token of the wedding to them
Reply:In Ireland we put the flowers on graves of our relatives who have passed before us eg, grandparents/parents it is a sentimental offering as obviously they cant be there at the wedding.
Reply:I am putting mine on my Grandparents grave
Reply:That sounds like a lovely idea, but where I'm from your guests might be confused, because most of the time the couple give them away, usually before the wedding party is introduced people are asked to take theirs seats, while waiting for the wedding party to assemble before their grand entrance a game is played, sometimes a dot on the bottom of your bread plate, or passing the salt shaker until the music stops, the winner of the game takes home the centerpiece. I dont know that everyone does that, but every wedding Ive been to has
Reply:all of the female guests took some flowers home as gifts from my wedding- they were all wrapped as small posies for this purpose. i have also worked in an old peopls home and they love getting flowers- be careful with nursing homes though because some are the same as hospitals, in that they do not allow flowers because of the possible contamination- nuts!
Reply:That is such a nice idea. Check beforehand that the home you have in mind would accept them no probs, though. I'm sure the residents would really love it!

Help. I need real light blue flowers for my wedding.?

The theme of my wedding is light blue and white, but I'm having trouble finding natural light blue flowers. I would rather not dye flowers for that could get expensive. So can you help?

Help. I need real light blue flowers for my wedding.?
ahm, well you could have carnations dyed to light blue and that shouldn't be too expensive. You could actually dye the carnations yourself. It is not hard at all. Carnations are about the cheapest flower you can get here too. Ohter than that. You could try Morning glories, but they wilt quickly. There are also Hydrangeas, cornflowers, blue bonnets, lilacs, delphiniums, blue iris. Another thought. If your theme is light blue, daisys or a white and yellow flower would be gorgeous. You might like the contrast. Congratualtions!
Reply:go to the flower place
Reply:All you need do is put freshly cut white flowers in water with dark blue food coloring, and VOILA! Blue flowers! (Won't work well with roses but will work with carnations and margarites).
Reply:speak to the florist they can spray white flowers the colors you want them to be
Reply:larkspur flowers are nice. they are natural, and have a faint glow when air-dried. e-mail me if you have anymore questions!
Reply:try hydrangeas or 'forget me nots'

hydrangeas grow in large bunches of small flowers and come in many colors including white and blue.

example:

http://www.amazonflowers.us/images/hydra...

'forget me nots' are tiny, common, blue flowers. with their shape and spread they could make an thoughtful replacement for the typical baby's breath.

example:

http://www.shortcourses.com/naturelog/fo...

i also think their name is adorable for a wedding.
Reply:I have seen hydrangeas done in wedding mags and they can look stunning. Search the net for wedding photos with hydrangeas. I would have used them but they have a short in-season that did not fall at the right time of year for me. I got married in August. I think spring is the time for flowering hydrangeas. One suggestion given to me was to get really good quality silk and mix them into an otherwise real boquet.
Reply:Go to Wal-mart.
Reply:call a florist
Reply:put food coloring in carnations....
Reply:You could put forget-me-nots in little bowls on the tables. Hydrangeas come in blue but they are rather large. Felicia is very pretty, looks like a daisy but blue, with a yellow centre. Ageratums are also pretty. It might be cheaper to dye a less expensive white flower. Good luck to you.

Doing wedding flowers...?

I am doing the wedding flowers for my Minister's wedding in November. I have been looking for good reliable sources of fresh flowers that I can order. Does anyone know where I can order good quality fresh flowers...at preferably wholesale prices that I don't have to purchase a minimum amount of each kind of flower. It's a really small wedding. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Reply:www.samsclub.com. I got my flowers from them and they were beautiful and inexpensive.
Reply:I think their might be a minimum (like 50), but Costco has good flowers. My friend ordered her flowers through them and then arranged them herself.
Reply:We went to the farmers' market and talked to a grower of flowers. She had us come to her farm the day before the wedding. We picked the ones that we wanted. We got a book at a crafts store. The night before the wedding, we had people come to our house, and we made the bouquets.

For the bride's bouquet, we got five calla lilies at the supermarket for $15.00.

Good luck.
Reply:Check out www.growersbox.com

They do have min. orders for wholesale, but they also have a really great section called "wedding in a box"

for a small wedding you could purchase one box and cover everything. It even has the greenery included.
Reply:You must go to Sams club

know of 2 weddings that used

flowers from there and they

were beautiful

What type of flowers will look good in my wedding?

My theme is Chocolate, my colors so far are a dark espresso brown, Ivory, and Tan. Like the colors of chocolate. I'm having a hard time finding flowers to go with my theme. I was hoping to find a dark brown accent flower, with maybe some ivory calililys, or even hydrangia. Since I'm having such a hard time, I've been thiking of adding a little bit of color to the whole scheme, but that would totally defeat the whole chocolate idea, unless I did like a minty green or a sage. I'm completely stuck. Any ideas?

What type of flowers will look good in my wedding?
Great idea Chocolate sounds great, If you keep all to the same colours then everything will just merge in to one. Defiantly add a accent colour, If you think about chocolates in a box then they have all sorts of centers, so what about Gerber's they came in some really vivid reds, pinks, oranges and purples also the centers of Gerber's are a chocolate colour. You could even carry this through to the reception flowers. Good Luck
Reply:I love chocolate - I would say that pink is great with chocolate but more of a dirty dusty muted pink.

Or how about Bronze Calla and Mango roses - see pics on the links.

Or orange Ranunculus, mango Calla Lilies, russet Roses and dark brown Echinops - Hypericum berries to provide a lovely accent and clusters of Beech twigs to add interesting contrast.
Reply:Brown flower? i am stuck on that unless you could get a carnation to dye that color? but, for a beautiful cream color a good flower is a Peony...but they are sometimes harder to get. you have beautiful colors, hope you find something. If you feel like you have to add color add a really deep, deep black red (you know like the deepest of red roses?)
Reply:Pinks are great with chocolate brown....especially pastel pinks. They can make certain flowers different colors to fit your needs if you can't find the right the flowers though. theknot.com has some great ideas usually as well

Do you prefer real flowers or silk flowers for a wedding and reception?

This could be either an inside OR outside wedding, etc.

Do you prefer real flowers or silk flowers for a wedding and reception?
I'll get thumbed down like crazy but.....

I prefer silks (high quality ones, not dollar store) for a number of reasons:

1. I can have any flower and as many as I want without worrying about the smell being too powerful. I've been to weddings that competely reek of floral and you have to take breaks outside just to get air.

2. No worries about wilting, are they in season, are they at their best blooming period?, etc.

3. I can shop sales and get them dirt cheap and don't have to pay a florist to arrange them.

4. After the wedding I have the option of a keepsake or I can re-sell them to recoup some of my money

5. They come in "unatural" colors. For instance a dusty blue hydrangea doesn't happen in real life but in Silk World anything is possible

6. Nobody is allergic to silk flowers so I don't have to worry about runny noses and sneezing guests (or my HTB lol)
Reply:does the word TACKY spell it out for you
Reply:I absolutely love flowers so I prefer real if possible.
Reply:Chose to go with real because it's special for that one day!

However, there's nothing 'wrong' with using silk - can be just as beautiful.
Reply:Real flowers due to the fragrance. Cosco has flowers and they are reasonable.
Reply:Real flowers are just so much more classy and beautiful for such a special occasion.
Reply:real flowers are a must for me!!!! i hate silk flowers because i think they are gaudy looking. to me a wedding should be with fresh flowers. it just seems to make for a beautiful reception with fresh flowers in empire vases on the tables.
Reply:real is always better but they are expensive
Reply:Real most definitely. Silk flowers just don't look that good to me.
Reply:My daughter had real flowers at her wedding. It made for a much prettier effect. I'd go with the real.
Reply:Real is always better. Yes, silk will last but you can always dry out the real flowers. It will be nicer that way, even if it costs more.
Reply:Hi. I love flowers, so I prefer real. That being said, if you can't afford real, I think 1 or 2 simple flowers (gerbera daisies, roses, tulips, etc.) in a vase at the reception looks much nicer than a big huge bouquet of silks.

If you are thinking of silks, make sure to price them. Yes, possibly they are cheaper. But the ones that are "realistic looking" can be as much as buying the real thing. Also, you can special order wholesale flowers (lots cheaper than from a florist) on many sites. You can also get flowers cheap from Walmart and Costco. Just a thought......

Yes, I prefer real.
Reply:depends on your budget and you! our family weddings have been a mixture of fresh flowers and silks, and it really is a personal preference.

if you are thinking of doing your own bouquets then silks are easier to work with. and you can save yourself a lot of money by making your own bouquets sweetie. its relatively easy and you can do them a month or more ahead of time if you want to. you can get all the supplies you need at a craft store such as michael's or even joann's.

boutinierres and corsages are generally fresh flowers but the rest can be silks, your bouquets, your floral arrangements, your centerpieces, can all be silk flowers if you wish.

have a look at some good quality silks before you make up your mind, and like i said you could easily make your own bouquets if you use the silks. good luck and happy wedding!
Reply:I'm using real, but not a whole lot of them for my wedding. I'm having a florist make an archpiece and a long centerpiece for our head table, then buying the rest of the flowers I need in bulk. I will use these flowers to make the bouquets (simple dome-shaped ones), boutenniers, and centerpieces for some tables (just put some flowers in vases I already have). The website theknot.com even has step-by-step instructions for making bouquets and bout's. This is very manageable if you don't want something ornate and extravagant. I'm spending under $300 for all these flowers.

Good luck!
Reply:Silk always looks prettier!
Reply:i just ordered silks from afloral.com

i have to say that when i put them together and made the bouquets i was MORE than happy with how they came out.

you can't tell they are silks till you are up close to them.

real is nice and all but wayyyyyy tooooo expensive for my blood.

these silks are awesome.

i'll be happy to email you pics if you want to see how mine came out- nataliexoxo@yahoo.com
Reply:Real! I had real at my wedding and you can't beat that look or smell!
Reply:silk, we had silk flowers and the best part is i get to keep them... and they are cheap...:)
Reply:I don't hate silk flowers like a lot of people on this board do, I believe with a good amount of hard work they can look just as nice as real.

But when the choice is given to me I always prefer real. The smell, and the feel of them can not be replicated.
Reply:Real
Reply:Real flowers. I think fake flowers are cheesy!
Reply:I always prefer real flowers. I have never seen any realistic-looking silks. Unless you are getting exotic flowers, most fresh flowers are cheaper than many silks you find.
Reply:If you can afford them, real is always better.

Wedding Flowers from Albertsons?

Has anyone purchased wedding flowers from Albertsons? They had some brochures and it looks good and looks like a good deal..

What do you think? I know the quality may not be 5 star quality but I am on a budget and the most important to me is reliability - will they be there when they say they will - with what they say they will bring?

Wedding Flowers from Albertsons?
I suggest visiting weddinglenox.com and post your request.

Reply:I haven't but I would be really concerned. It's not what they do best neither do they get paid more. I couldn't put my trust in them unless I built a firm relationship with the person that was doing it. But maybe you should ask for 3 references. Otherwise I'd get the main stuff from a local florist and ask them for just the corsages and petals.

How do you deal with flowers for a Destination Wedding?

Hello. I am getting married in Florida in January ( I live in MN) and I am wondering how one deals with flowers for a destination wedding. I'm certainly not going to buy my bouquet here and pack it in my suitcase and bring it with!! Are there ways of ordering them over the phone or something and picking them up at your destination?

Also, what other flowers do you need besides the one that the bride holds? I am so clueless when it comes to weddings!!!

I dont really care about decorations around the church, its going to be a short ceremony with about 8 ppl present so I dont need lavish decorations to impress anyone. Im just wondering what other flowers I will need for ppl to wear/carry?

How do you deal with flowers for a Destination Wedding?
i am a florist and have done many

email is the best way to communicate

find pics that you like online and send the florist a link, they will give you pricing and suggestions if you just communicate your needs
Reply:Flowers are optional.
Reply:if you have any brides maids let them carry a single white lily with a fabric tie around it that match the color theme of the wedding. the best thing to do is to get with a florist in the town that you are getting married in. that way your flowers will be fresh. you should be able to order them over the phone if you know what kind of flowers you want. or you can check to see if the company has a website or just look up some flowers online so that you will know what you want.
Reply:Your destination wedding coordinator should handle that for you. Are you doing this alone, or did you even hire a coordinator to take care of things locally so you're not saddled w/ extra long distance call, mailing and other expenses related to trying to plan a wedding from a thousand miles away? If you're having it at a resort, they can easily arrange a florist for you. Otherwise, call some local florists and arrange for them to do the bouquets and deliver them to the site just as you would at home. The down shot is that you won't be able to see the bouquet in person unless you're going down at least a few days before the wedding so that you know what the florist's vision looks like, and whether you two agree.
Reply:I got married in Florida on the beach and I went to a florist (just picked on that I saw) and they made my bouquet from fresh flowers and it was amazing. I had a wore a white sundress and my husband wore khakis and a nice white button shirt. The flowers were mostly pink and white and were beautiful - they were the only flowers that I had except for a small bouquet for my maid of honor - we had only 9 people there - I wouldn't have changed a thing! Congratulations!
Reply:I had a destination wedding in Hawaii with just immediate family -- I actually ended up getting flowers at Costco! I bought a few different rose arrangements very inexpensively and brought ribbon from home. I cut the stems of the roses to an appropriate bouquet length and wrapped/tied the stems with the ribbon. I had a beautiful rose bouquet for myself and my female witness for a very reasonable price. Just pick them up the day of the ceremony and stop stressing! Like you said, the day isn't about impressing anyone - it is about getting to marry the man of your dreams! Congratuations!
Reply:Your best bet is to look online for a florist in your area and then contact them. Send them pictures showing what you want, and get quotes. before you book anyone, you will need to see their work - ask to see photos of past weddings (online, email, fax, etc)

For flowers - you should have flowers for you, bouquets for the bridesmaids, boutineirres for the groom and groomsmens, and boutineirres/corsages for the parents/grandparents who are attending. Other things you might want flowers for include alter arrangements or something for the signing table or guestbook table if you are having those.

Has anyone done their own wedding flowers?

I'm getting married May 12th which is mothers day. I just realized flowers are going to cost about twice as much as normal because of the weekend, I was estimated about 1-thousand dollars for 7 bouquets.

I worked in a florist shop for a few years so I know a bit about bouqueting, and it seems to me it would be way cheaper to just buy a bunch of flowers and do it myself (with the help of my bm's). I would still pay someone to do the boutineers. Just wondering if you think it's plausible or if I'm out of my mind!

Has anyone done their own wedding flowers?
I absolutely think you can do it yourself and save yourself alot of money. You can go with silk or real flowerrs. If you go with real, I would suggest going through a wholesaler like Costco or Sam's Club. I bought my flowers through them and paid $12.99 per 2 dozen roses. The service was great and the flowers were gorgeous. I picked them up 3 days before the wedding and ordered them medium tight. I had plenty of time to arrange all the centerpieces and bought vases at Michaels for $3 each. For the church, I used pew cones from www.pewcones.com and filled them with the flowers. If you worked at a florist, you will have no trouble at all arranging the flowers. When I asked a florist how much she would charged for a similar centerpiece, she said $75 each and I spent under $20 each. The knot.com also has some great pictures and ideas. Hope this helps!
Reply:Do not buy into that florist crap. They charge an arm and a leg. Go through a bulk floral company - or get them from samsclub.com or costco.com. $1000 for 7 bouquets? Please! On growersbox.com you can get 6 1-dozen rose bouquets for $108. and they are fresh and beautiful. Don't do the silk flowers when you can get fresh ones at a much better price!
Reply:actually mothers day is may 13th, the 12th is a saturday.

I honestly think if its something you know you can pull off to look both beautifully and professionaly done, then go for it. It saves quite a bit of money in the long run. if you know everything you need great if not i could fire up my memory and let you know what you need, i used to make wedding bouquets.

For my aunts wedding which was put together in i think it was 4 months, i did the flowers ( 3 boutineers, and 7 bouquets, all table centerpieces {which were bouquets} all the flowers on the main table and the background of the main table) it took me 3 days non stop (by myself too) and costed in total, roughly 200.00 (because we used alot of roses). plus i cant remember the little extras. I also made the cake which was a hassel in itself lol. But everthing turned out amazing. Basically have fun with it and its your decision but i dont think its tacky at all.
Reply:I did my own bouquets with fake flowers. Everyone loved them!

I was lucky cuz I just got married Jan 13, and I didnt see many flowers in a winter wedding so it made it easy for me.

Good luck!!!!!!
Reply:I did bouquets of fake flowers. It was a lot cheaper than having some one else do real ones. I just bought them at the craft store. They were set up to lay in the crook of the arm. For the bouquet to be tossed, I found one already made up and then took off the plastic rings that held all the flowers together and added my own touch to it and wrapped it in ribbon. It all actually turned out really nice. It's a great budget saver.
Reply:I am doing flowers for a June wedding and the bride has 7 bridesmaids. I am using silk flowers from Hobby Lobby and we purchased the flowers this week while they were 50% off for single stems. Total cost for 7 beautiful silk bouquets...$78.00.
Reply:If you have worked in a florist shop then you most likely have a pretty good grasp on how to do it. The quote you got was outlandish.

By all means, do it yourself.

Time was an issue for me in my wedding so we created silk bouquets.
Reply:yea..go for it..use artificial flowers and get those little handle things that go underneath the flowers..they look like a handle and then it's circular at the top of it and is kind of slanted...then buy aqua foam to put in the circular part...then cut the flowers and make a nice little arangement..its easy...
Reply:If you were going with silk I would think you could pull it off without a hitch. But trying to do it close to your wedding.....don't you have enough to do to get ready for that wonderful day?

I'd think long %26amp; hard about this one.
Reply:My mother used silk flowers for her wedding....they were very inexpensive and looked amazing! The great thing is, they last forever, unlike real flowers that you would have to have freeze dried (which end up slightly discolored and brittle sometimes).

However, if you go with real flowers, especially with your background, I would check out some local shops to see if they have any "second quality" flowers you can buy in bulk. They're MUCH cheaper, and the only thing wrong with them is a couple of discolored petals or bent leaves (which are, of course, easily removed).

I'm sure whatever you choose, they will be great - but I always think that everyone is so busy looking at how beautful the bride is, they won't notice if the flowers don't look "Martha Stewart" perfect! Enjoy your day!
Reply:I had fake flowers.
Reply:Flowers might not seem it, but they're a big responsibility, is that really something you want to take on? You know your stuff, but maybe you could teach someone else and have them in charge of it? You're going to be way stressed on your wedding day, and flowers are the last thing you need to be doing that morning/afternoon.
Reply:I used silk flowers and made them myself nothing to it and everyone thought they were beautiful! Doesn't take all that much time and since you used to work in a shop it should come easy for you! I bought the bouts also! So go for it!
Reply:go to hobby lobby look at their flowers the fake ones look so real and also they won't leak from the stems and get on your dress
Reply:Try this site: http://www.proflowers.com
Reply:i am getting married in june and my fiacne's mom and me are making my flowers , all of them and we shopped aroung a flea markets and stores like micheals and found cheap prices, if you know how to do them yourself you can buy bulk flowers and make your own bouquets. give it a try i aonly soent about 300 dollars for all of my flowers
Reply:I did my own floral arrangements for the reception centerpieces and I had a florist do a very "base model" bouquet for myself %26amp; maids and "added" some ivy and other flowers that were cheaper for me to buy and stick in.

I think with your experience it is plausible, just make sure you have a plan B if it doesn't turn out as you hope.
Reply:I ASKED WHAT A CUBAN SANWICH WAS, WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME DUMB INGREDIENTS ON A REUBEN.....CUBAN....NOT REUBEN
Reply:I got married in Sept and me and one of my bridesmaids did them all! Just buy them in advance and work on them slowly if you have to.
Reply:I was apart of a couple of weddings where the bride did her own flowers. You of all people should be able to put something lovely and professional looking together because of your background.

Both weddings I was apart of had simple bouquets, however. One was callalillies and the other was just parchment paper roses.

They both used the pins that have the fake pearls on the end to hold in place, and OH!!! I just remembered, the rose bouquets were held together by clear hair rubber bands that you can get at the drugstore, with ribbon wrapped around the band so you couldn't see.

Both bouquets were really nice.

What do you think about a black and white wedding with bright colored flowers???

Im not going for the goth look, i just loved the contrast of the two colors and i personally feel that baby blue and light greens are a little too eastery for a wedding and since my wedding is in April these are the more popular colors. Im not too crazy about pastel bridemaid dresses. I will have an all white wedding dress and my bridesmaids will have black dresses with a white sash. Any Opinions??? Thanks!

What do you think about a black and white wedding with bright colored flowers???
Hi and congratulations!

To be honest....any color goes at anytime as far as I'm concerned! Black dresses will look very pretty against some bright colored flowers. You can do all one color....say PINK roses....PINK tulips....PINK gerbera daisies.....or a mixture of any of these flowers with other colors! I happen to think pink and black look very stunning together.

It would also look very nice with the small sunflowers -- bright yellow!!

I think your look is elegant! Good luck!
Reply:What about black, white and pale blue? Maybe your bridesmaids could wear a light blue sash with their dress. You can also vary the color combinations to not make it look like an Easter basket. Champagne and light blue would be a nice color combination.
Reply:I think it would be gorgeous!!! Just make sure you have BRIGHT, eyecatching flowers!!!

http://www.noriravi.com/Thumbnails;jsess...
Reply:I think that sounds like a nice idea. I think it would look good, and it wouldn't look gothic as long as everyone was holding bright flowers. I especially like the white sash idea. Maybe you could also make sure the bridesmaids will have some other splash of color, like earrings or shoes or jewelery. And your fiance should wear a brightly colored tie that matches the flowers.
Reply:I did this same thing (minus the white sash) for our recent October wedding. The wedding was outdoors and it was in the afternoon. Everyone looked great! Not gothic or funeral-like at all. We had wildflower bouquets that were all sorts of colors and they just looked wonderful with the black dresses--really vibrant. I think your plan sounds great! I'm not crazy about pastels either. Good luck.
Reply:Your colors sound fine...IF and ONLY IF it is an EVENING wedding in April...a daytime wedding in those colors in spring...hmmm...well you COULD...but make sure the bridesmaids don't look like its a funeral...add some white accent to the black dresses...sashes?
Reply:I love it, I bet it will look great!
Reply:I think it's a good idea, one of my friends did that and she asked that all the people attending wear black and white as well, it was fun, and cute :-) it's your wedding so just do it however you want :-)
Reply:I went to a wedding very similar to what you want last year.

The BM's wore black dresses, all different styles to fit each individual body shape, and they carried hot pink, orange and yellow flowers. The colors really looked good together. And I liked that idea. It saved money for each BM too because they could find a simple elegant black dress that fit then and there (no alterations needed) at their favorite store in the mall for $50 rather than spending a fortune on a BM dress that costs $300 with alterations and everything.
Reply:I think it'd be beautiful. You can do whatever color combination you want! You dont even have to stick to two colors... you can just have BURSTS of colorful bunches scattered about. (I'm thinkin about the floral arrangements that they have in the lobbys of large hotels... with the funky Paradise flower thing) Thats lovely!!
Reply:Keep the bright flowers the same type and it will look great. Majority roses, sunflowers, etc in a rainbow of colors will look smashing.
Reply:That sounds really pretty. I love the contrast of black and white and I think it can look so classy. If your wanting a bright color to throw in the mix, I would definately go with pink-light or dark. This could work with all of your smaller details. Maybe a hint of pink in the bouquets or even a pink ribbon around the stems. Hope this helps. Good luck!
Reply:i think the brightly colored flowers will make everything look absolutely gorgeous. you can pick any colors you want!

i chose to have a navy blue bridesmaid dress for the same reason. i hate pastel colored dresses. and i am getting married in july.
Reply:I talked to my florist ta few days ago and he was talking about the most beautiful wedding he had ever done was all black and white and then the bridesmaids had deep pink roses I think? Anyway I agree with Nancy as long as it is in the evening it sounds beautiful.

Good Luck!
Reply:I had a wedding in April that I went to and it was black and white. Of Course it was night time and the flowers were one Long stemmed red rose. It was beautiful. Good Luck
Reply:Your wedding colors do sound very formal and would be wonderful for an evening wedding. I've seen a wedding like this with red roses as the flowers. They made the whole event seem very gothic. I've also seen this done with bright pink lillies. This looked really beautiful. I think that orange would also be lovely. I had an April wedding with pastel colors, but I do understand that this isn't to everyone's taste.
Reply:Love It!!!!!

I get what your saying about the pastels and such. However, I think bouquets w/ pink, peach, champagne and ivory colored flowers would look Fab w/ your black dresses.

The flowers will definitely POP against the black. Also, your dress will appear more crisp white, next to the black contrast.
Reply:well that is gothic
Reply:You can choose any color flowers you want. They will all go great against Black and White! how about some vibrant hot pinks, and orange?

Hope these help.

Best of Luck and Congrats.
Reply:My wedding is next month, and my colors are ivory, pink, and black. The flowers and centerpieces are going to have different shades of pink, and my bridesmaids are wearing formal black dresses. It's going to look so pretty! You could even do lilac as the accent color as well.
Reply:I vote for red! Because, like someone else said, your colors are formal and I think that will keep it formal.
Reply:DO ANYTHING YOU WANT TO. It is your wedding and as long as your hubby to be is down with it....do it.

I never have understood why the men are all in black while the women are in colors anyway......(no jokes about cuz the men know what a death sentence they are entering into.........)

DO IT DO IT DO IT. And don't worry about what anyone says---you can't do that for an afternoon wedding, you can't do that for a spring wedding bla, bla, bla----------just do it. It's YOUR wedding.
Reply:Absolutely Beautiful... Go for it!! Use pastel pinks and purples.
Reply:if your wedding is in April them duh make it Easter colors and your bridesmaids needed different colors not black

What wedding flowers go best with black and white dresses?

You have endless possibilities with those colors. A lot of it will depend on your budget and the style that you are going for. Do you want dramatic? Subtle? Do you want to carry all white? Do you want your bridesmaids to have different bouquets? There are lots of options...

If you are on a budget you can go with gerbera daisies. They are a beautiful and affordable flower. You can basically use any color that you wish. You could go with a nice red color, like this...

http://www.weddingtactics.com/wp-content...

Or even a nice pink color... http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1116/5308...

If you don't really have a tight budget, you could go with something like calla lilies. Some beautiful deep purple lilies would look gorgeous....

http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbvi...

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg10/...

Or some yellow calla lilies...it would add a nice dramatic touch.

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg10/...

Or there are the classic red rose: http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg10/...

Or some beautiful pink roses: http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg10/...

These are just some of many possibilites. You have a great color scheme to work with. You could always add another accent color to your scheme. You could have the black and white dress; then have all the flowers be purple, pink or whatever color you would like to add. It would look beautiful.

Ask your bridesmaids for their opinions as well...my advice would be to first find a color that you could like to go with; then work those colors of flowers into your budget.

I hope that this helps! Good luck to you :)

What wedding flowers go best with black and white dresses?
red
Reply:ROSES- DEEP DARK RED
Reply:You really could go with just about anything. Traditionally, red would be the color choice, but that's totally up to you.

If your whole wedding is going to have a black and white theme, you need to pick a third color anyway so maybe you can coordinate the flower colors with the decorations.
Reply:I would go with bright colors, such as reds, pinks or purple.
Reply:pinks or reds
Reply:For a dramatic look use one color such as dark red or deep pink with a lot of greenery, but if you want to soften the effect and go with a pastel color you could do a multi-colored bouquet of your favorite flowers and that would be very beautiful too, you can also chose white flowers and incorporate ribbons of your favorite color, "Calla Lilies" and "Roses" are elegant, try to stay away from "Freesia's" as these do not last, they tend to drop their petal and turn brown fast, and carnations can be tinted any color. Hope this helps, Good Luck and Best Wishes to You and Your Fiance'.
Reply:either white flowers or bright flowers. I wouldn't go with a lot of green foliage.
Reply:Bright pink and purple tiger lilies look awesome w/ black and white dresses.
Reply:lilys
Reply:I think calla lillies are a beautiful flower with a simple elegance. The yellow inside would add a pretty accent. They also have a curvy and unique shape. They have long, thick stems and just a few look beautiful in a simple vase. I included a link below with a pciture. They are more expensive, but they are a large flower and you wouldn't need to use as many.
Reply:Red roses
Reply:If you are going for the drama of all black %26amp; white with no other colors, I would think that white calla lilies would work well.

If you want a splash of color for contrast, how about red roses?
Reply:something like this would pop against the dresses http://www.proflowersweddings.com/assrtr...
Reply:red roses looking really classy with those colors
Reply:Anything vibrant is good. So use this as an oppurtunity to bring in the accent color. For example, black, white, hot pink:

or black, white, lime green:

This should be very helpful %26amp; give you some great ideas on flowers. Good Luck!
Reply:With black and white, you can do pretty much any color.
Reply:ooo if you want something to pop ..pick bright colors...i was thinking red ... if you like bold statements!

as for the flowers go i have no idea ... i dont really know that much about names and stuff ...just that they are all pretty and colorful and smell good lol

but yeah red would be nice or pink or orange or even a blue lol ...like i said if you like bold colors.
Reply:a solid bright color .. like a red or a bright yellow .. something to draw away from the black %26amp; white and to add a great splash of color!!
Reply:Red roses (they symbolize love).
Reply:The time of year would be a HUGE help, but Roses or Calla Lillys are classic.
Reply:white...or some color
Reply:Calla lilies...white

Red roses
Reply:If you want to go with classic black and white, try lilies or white roses.

If you want something a bit more dramatic, but still classy, try red roses (you could even mix the red roses with white)

What are good wedding flowers for an April wedding?
Any pastel flower that says spring!!! And it's cheaper if it's in season!
Reply:daisy's but it depends on Ur colors. Go with something bright and spring.
Reply:orcids. pink and purple
Reply:Tulips are great and roses are always in season...mix it up and use some fruits in your centerpieces as well...pears or apples.
Reply:Whatever is in season to help keep your bill lower. I got married in Aug. and originially wanted lilacs (my all-time favorite scent.) Because they were out-of-season, my cost would have been really high. Speak with your florist before deciding.
Reply:gerber daisy's. red, pink, or something bright.
Reply:Different colored daises, roses, lilies, any spring flowers. It depends on what you like and what your colors are. The florist should be able to help you and make your wedding flowers beautiful.
Reply:Lilies, since it will be around Easter time.
Reply:what ever you like, go to the florist and ask what flowers are available
Reply:Doesn't matter what month it is. Just pick something that you like! It's your wedding you should choose and don't let anyone else choose for you! It's your special day, make it special.
Reply:I say lillies, white roses or fressia's are always good.
Reply:I love Gerber daisies, they come in all different colors and look very modern.

Can i get decent wedding flowers with an $800 budget?

I have 7 long tables (16 seats) and want small pots of flowers along them, maybe 8 per table so i'll need 56 small centerpieces. how much might that cost?

100ppl

total budget 14000

rings are over 2000

Can i get decent wedding flowers with an $800 budget?
I think you should be able to get atleast 40 small pots of flowers ($20 per pot x 40 = $800). You can definitely get pots with a single orchid for $20 and I think that would look very stylish. I'm not sure where is the best place to get it, but I think I've seen those at places like Home Depot. Look around at a few places for prices, and make sure their flowers don't look wilted.
Reply:I don't know where you live but you can get miniature rose bushes from a florist for about $3-$5/ pot. So you could easily do it for well under $800. You could then use the rest for some ivy or get some fabric and votive candles to go in between the miniature roses. In fact, you could get 100 of them for less than $800 and use them as both your table decorations and your favors as well. You could put some around the cake table and scatter some on the buffet table and the table where the guest book and container for cards will be.
Reply:Well I'm not sure how small you are talking about but normally it's one centerpiece per 10 guests. So you would only need 10 centerpieces right? 7 tables with 16 seats would be enough room for 112 people that would be closer to 11 or 12 centerpieces but to make it look even you might want to do one per ever 8 guests (every four chairs if you're doing seating on both sides of the tables), making the centerpiece total 14. You can do very small ones but I really don't think you need 56 of them. The less you have the more easy it's going to be to stay in budget. I know we went with a really great florist, we have 18 tables (one centerpiece per table) and are using orchid sprays in tall crystal vases. That costed us about $1200 just for the centerpieces. If you use less costly flowers, flower holders, etc.. it will def. work.

Sorry if I wasn't a ton of help!
Reply:It will be hard to find a florist that will be able to do anything really for that price. That's like $14 per arrangement. My friends wedding had 3 gerberas per vase done by a florist and it was like $20 each. However, you can easily do it yourself for that.

Craft stores sell pots, and so do places like Target (and vases too).

I've used these website for flowers

www.growersbox.com

www.flowerbud.com

www.pacificcallas.com

flowers with hardy stem and small flowers (mini callas, orchids, stock...) are very easy to arrange. things like roses take a little more work, but aren't too bad.
Reply:absolutely if your willing to do them yourslef. Put 100 away to buy your bouquet. however everything else can be done at your local grocery store. If your a member at costo, even better. Someone mentioned Downtown LA, my expierence is they tend to have a lesser quality for that cheap price. you may be wilting by noon ya know.
Reply:first off, do they have to be real ? or can they be fake? because if u go to michaels craft store, they sell tons of different little centerpieces. they can even order big quantaties if you need them to. i work there. good luck! also, they are inexpensive, and if you order a lot, they will give you a volume discount
Reply:I think that is reasonable - as long as you don't want 10 roses per centrepeice!!! There are some lovely arrangements that use more greenery and therefore keep the price down. I did that for my wedding and it worked fine. Talk to the florists and get some ideas.
Reply:you didnt even say what country you are in..

China?? Chile?? Canada??

http://www.gomestic.com/Entertaining/Pla...

I suggest buying LIVE PLANTS from a green house and just putting colored paper around the bottoms...

Marigolds? Mums? Petunias? Pansys?

here is another link with a different idea

Reply:Try Costco--they sell wedding flowers. You can order them online, and pick them up at your local warehouse club.

http://www.costco.com/Common/Category.as...
Reply:You may have to order the flowers from somewhere like growersbox.com and do the centerpieces yourself. 56 centerpieces is alot for 800. Plus you need bouquets for yourself and bridesmaids, and boutiners.
Reply:why don't you get a super nice center piece for the wedding party's table, and then use rose petals and candles (or even floating candles in nice bowls) for the other tables.
Reply:You definately should be able to. To same money, also, you can ask the florist if they have fake flowers that they can mix in with your real flowers. It can save a lot of money!
Reply:TrySilk flowerrs. They look real and you can save money. If you want real then try discount florists. Look for florists that are busy all the time. They might have a group of flowers they are unable to sell.
Reply:flowers yes. nice flowers no
Reply:Yes! Go to Downtown Los Angeles
Reply:Go to Home Depot or Lowes garden center

find nice plants and decorate them!
Reply:yes
Reply:I'm sorry, but $14,000 is a ridiculous waste of money to be spending on a wedding. Especially for only 100 people. That kind of money could go to much better causes. I would suggest only using about $200 to plant your flowers in pots that you buy. Costco sells flowers, potted and stemmed, for very cheap. Just remember, after your wedding, that all those expenses mean nothing, they are not going to have any factor on how successful your marriage is. What are you going to do with 56 potted plants afterwards? That is also something you're going to have to consider.
