Wedding flowers...Something different?

I'd love something a little different from the "normal" bouquet style flowers, has anyone any suggestions? Has anyone had or seen a "pomander" style bouquet?

My wedding is very informal, fun and relaxed, just close friends and relatives, and the flower colour will be all ivory/cream, any fun suggestions would be gratefully considered!!

Wedding flowers...Something different?
A pomander is a great idea!! I saw a really cute pomander in Bride and Bloom Magazine. It was made with small white chrysanthemums and had little pearl pins as accents as well. The magazine is relatively new and they just put up a website. Check it out because they have a lot of ultra mod, non-traditional floral arrangements. Congrats and good luck!
Reply:There are lots of options. When is your wedding? I am not a huge bouquet fan, and I am lucky that I am having a Winter Wedding, so my maids will be carrying pretty wreaths.

One option for you is to have a wrist corsage. Very European. I also like your idea of a pomander bouquet (a round "ball" of flowers). You could also carry a lit candle. A single long stemmed rose in your color may also be nice. I have yet to chose which of the above I want, but they all sound great to me.

Have fun with your choice!

Good luck!
Reply:A posy would be very cool, I think it's really elegant. I think I can picture what you mean by a pomander - maybe check out ideas from Victorian themed sites or catalogues.
Reply:Hi

Your plans for an informal fun day sound wonderful - hope the ideas below help you find the right bouquet to match your style !!

Pomander

What is it? – Flowers and foliage massed around a foam center to form a ball shape and suspended by ribbon, organza or elegant pearl strands. Create a stunning effect with classic English cut roses or beautiful blowsy peonies.

Your Style? An elegant hands free design for fashionable brides. The pomander would suit a modern wedding celebration perfectly.

Wrist Corsage

What is it? – Usually a single bloom secured to your wrist with ribbon this design can also be a more elaborate design with long trailing features.

Your Style? The wrist corsage is a fashionable yet simple alternative to a bouquet that won’t detract from a dress with lots of embellishment and detail. It’s also hands free!

Feathers and Flowers - What about combining feathers and flowers which could be fun and funky!

Reply:Gerber Daisy's are real pretty, and it looks nice even if you just carry one long stem! (thats what my bridesmaids did.) Also, lillies are nice, I had Stargazer Lillies (they are bright red/pink with yellow, REALLY amazing with plain white and ivory's!) Good luck. :)
Reply:how about peonies?http://www.woodrome.com/garden03/images/...
Reply:Have a look at this website. It gives you all differnt kinds of bouquets. A pomander bouquet is really interesting. It's like a ball of flowers suspended from a ribbon. Good luck :)
Reply:Why dont you try to be "funny" and buy cactus flowers for your hubby? Then he will know what is coming up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:I'm trying to decide this at the moment as well! Our is very low key too. I've seen some gorgeous simple silk lily posies on ebay.
Reply:Pomanders are nice you could also look at the possibility of a nosegay, this has herbs incorporated in the mix.

Reply:My florist showed us pictures of single roses, using a large rose and making something of it using ribbon/ feather/ net, etc, she originally showed me it for the bridesmaid, but I like it so much I might have one myself.

Have you seen crystal bouquets too

Reply:my sister has just got some sented hand crafted wooden roses 4 her big day in aug.there cream and champain. she says there a great keepsake and not as expencive as real ones. congrats enjoy yr big day.xx
Reply:that would be nice but for me it just don't work.. I make Kissing balls at Christmas time for my dad Christmas tree farm to sell(same thing just made with pine like a wreath) I decided to do with white and pale yellow daises because ours is informal to and its seems like roses is the top choice and I wanted something different. it really up to you and what you like and is comfortable for you to carry that day
