Is it tacky to use artificial flowers for wedding decoration?

I have a calla lily themed wedding. I found these beautiful silk calla lilies bushes that are going to be on a stand with ivy leaves hanging off the bottoms to decorate the church. The arrangements look beautiful and real....not cheap at all.

Is it tacky to use artificial flowers for wedding decoration?
I used artificial flowers at my wedding and no one could tell the difference until they touched them. I have terrible allergies and I was not going to go though the day with allergy eyes in all of the photographs.





I think especially at a church, they will look beautiful. You might even think about donating some of the decorations to the church so they can be used by someone who might not be able to afford the decorations or lilies can be used at Easter time.
Reply:They're not tacky at all. We used all silk flowers for the decorations and bouquets. (real roses on a pedestal for a 'grandparent(s) 'memorial)...My flowers turned out absolutely beautiful and I still have my bouquet (it's in my hutch). I couldn't bare having a beautiful bouquet cost hundreds of dollars that would die 5 days later. Seemed a waste of money to me. We used hydrangeas, roses, chrysanthemums, greenery.





Also made silk flower centerpieces and had pillar candles in the middle.
Reply:Nope, I personally used a mix of silks and real florals in my wedding. Many of my guests took the silks home. My husband and I didn't even get to keep a centerpiece from our wedding, my family swiped them all.





Silks last forever. You can always put them into different arrangements later on and you'll always have a piece of your special day at home.
Reply:I AM DOING THE SAME!!!!!! Lol, I love calla lillies but cannot afford the real ones, so I am getting false ones instead. Where are you getting them from? In a way it can be better because you get to keep them all - I know my sister was devastated when her bouquet died. But with a false one, they are the same forever! And you dont have to worry about them wilting or peope being allergic! Good luck :) and please let me know where you plan to get them from, it might be better than my place!! there are shops that specialize in doing bridal centerpieces and bouquets.


I did mine in artificial flowers and that way my bouquet lasted forever ( I didn't throw it - a non-traditional wedding)

Reply:Not at all, a lot of people do this and it can save you tons of cash, plus you can keep themforever to decorate your home, give to others or donate to a nursing home.
Reply:Lots of people use artificial flowers. Not everyone can afford real flowers. Especially calla lillies, which are one of the most expensive flowers to have at your wedding. No one will even notice.
Reply:Nope I originally was going to do this so I could keep my bouquet forever but now I'm doing it with everything one because it's so much cheaper and two b/c that way we can keep everything as long as we want!
Reply:Thats what I am doing, Silk Flowers. I cant afford thousands of dollars worth of real flowers, mine for ceremony and reception and bridal all came to 150

Reply:It should be an aside decoration, not the focus of the room. The only reason that it might be seen as tacky is that you're using something you already have as decoration for such a formal event. If you also use other, real calla lilies, there should be no problem.
