Using MOSTLY "filler flowers" in wedding. Also are Sam's Club flowers good to use?

I remember coming across an article in some wedding magazine where brides made centerpieces %26amp; other wedding flowers out of loads of"filler flowers" put together. Things like carnations, baby's breathe, and other flowers that could be bought in grocery stores were used. Do you have tips on doing this, or know of an article talking about this?? Or do you know of websites that could help? Thanks so much in advance! I am desperately trying to save money on my wedding flowers.

Are you going to be putting together the centerpieces yourself? Do you have an idea in mind of what you want to do? Tall? Medium? Small? I would say to find a picture of what you want to do. Then you can figure out which filler flower that you can use to recreate that look. I would say that carnations are great because they are inexpensive and I think are lovely. Also, you should look into the Gerbera daisies - they are often affordable - plus they are a big flower, so you don't need to many of them. Depending on the type of centerpieces that you are thinking about you could use a lot of greens as well to fill in space. That is what I did with mine.

Here are a few websites that might be able to help you out.

Good luck!!! ♥
Reply:My husband and I decided that we did not want to spend a lot on our flowers...we were kind of lucky, one of my friends used to be a florist...but we bought all our flowers at Wal-Mart and got some greenery from the floral shops. Just the mixed bunches they have... and she (we helped as much as we could) she had some thin wire that she used to wrap the ends up and then the day of the wedding we put ribbon around the bottom that matched the colors of our wedding... and used stick pins to secure the ends. The corsages were a little different... she just used the flowers that may have had a broken stem or something as long as the actual flower part looked good...cut them short and put a couple together and wrapped them with a green type of floral tape ( i think you can get it at a craft store) Our flower were awesome!!! and at the reception we just laid the bouquets out on the head table instead of doing any big decorations. It looked great!!
Reply:I think carnations are great and plan on using them as the primary flower in most of my bouquets.

If flowers aren't a huge thing for you, and mostly "just another wedding expense" - - 'filler flowers' are the way to go. They are affordable and often take up more space so you don't need as many especially carnations!
