I was at a wedding that gave us each a plant and they used a variety. It was a small wedding so it wasn't too expensive and the tables looked very pretty with all the different flowers. There were African violets, and gerbera daisies, and baby tears (which is just green) and polka dot plant and shamrock plant I think that was about it. They were in tiny pots and had ribbons tied around them to match the brides colours. Have fun.
Has anyone ever given potted flowers to their guests for a wedding favor. Which flowers should i use.?
tulips =) thats what i would want there simple yet very preety
Reply:I don't think that's a good idea. Everyone will be in their "Sunday Best", most will have been drinking. ( At least they would be at one of our weddings.) People who bring kids, have enough to deal with, without adding a pot of dirt. Elderly guests will be exhausted. They don't need to carry anything else but them self's to the car. Plus, most people forget to take the keepsakes with them. If you really want to give a plant to commemorate the occasion, buy gift certificates from a nursery. I'm sure any nursery would work with you. They only stand to "make" money.
Reply:I have seen potted flowers used for the center pieces on the tables at the reception and then given to the guests as favors.
Which flowers is another question!! You could find flowers in "your colors " and that would add to the event. Or you could mix colors or use white and one other color (a nice contrast). The kind of flowers would also depend on whether your reception is indoors or outdoors (in the sun or in the shade). The less sun and heat, the wider the variety of possible flowers.
You can get small pots at Michael's. Depending on how much time you have until the wedding, you could plant from seeds or from seedlings.
Good Luck!!!
Reply:Use the type of flowers you are using in your wedding decorations or flowers of similar color. Add a card that says something about how love grows. Or a poem that has to do with love and flowers and how they grow in beauty.
Reply:I wouldn't give /flowers/ per se... but a resiliant plant like mint or a cactus in bloom. Or just a colorful cactus.
Reply:No, but that's a really nice idea! I've had seeds given, but not potted ones-how creative! Plant a flower from your boquet if possible...I think that would be the neatest way to do it.
